Introduction
Fintan Whelan is an artist born in Dublin, Ireland, who currently resides and works in Germany. Drawn to the constant challenge of making art, he produces and exhibits a series of abstract works that evoke a range of emotions, seeking to capture the resonance between the dynamic details of light and texture. His work has been highly acclaimed in Europe and around the world and was featured in the 2022 exhibition “Personal Structure” at the Venice Biennale.

Early career
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Fintan Whelan studied at the Dublin Institute of Art and Design. After working and living in various countries, he decided to become a full-time artist and his style gradually became more abstract. Having spent much of his time in Ireland, Spain and Germany, his work easily crosses cultural boundaries.
His style
His abstract works constitute a world of their own, evoking a number of subjective emotional reactions that vary from one viewer to another. They are like universes or undulating waves that unfold, and in which the viewer wanders and travels. Dynamic and precise, his works are capable of both dramatizing space and inviting contemplation.
At the heart of his technique is a constant focus on the use of his pigments, which he meticulously blends to the finest possible subtlety, always seeking the perfect balance of color. His style has evolved over the years to adapt to an increasingly varied range of materials, combining oils, emulsions and varnishes.
European renown
Fintan Whelan has exhibited throughout Europe, primarily in Ireland, the UK and Germany.
A member of the BBK, he has participated in numerous art fairs, including the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead, England, and has been involved in many prestigious residential and commercial projects around the world. He is included in private collections worldwide. A prolific artist whose work is sold out immediately, Whelan is one of the most sought after artists today.
