“Novo” depicts a landscape on the edge of which a city with its tall towers under construction stands. The horizontality of the landscape, particularly in the chosen format, and the verticality of the architecture collide. The landscape background is built up in three panels worked with inks. The inks bring softness, thanks in particular to the play of drips, with unexpected and poetic effects. And then, inexorably, red bars shoot towards the horizon in a movement that seems to owe nothing to chance. With the artist’s own choice of color, they are the main eye-catchers, structuring the composition. Like a riddle to be solved for the world to come.
