Introduction

Originally from the Ukraine, and now based in Paris, Olga Novokhatska is an artist whose popularity is currently booming with artistic training in both Ukraine and France. She has participated in exhibitions and art fairs throughout Europe, and often works on commission.

Inspired largely by the 19th century Impressionists, she explores two main themes – the vivacity of nature and the human figure – in a body of work full of movement and energy.

Artistic career

At the age of only 16, Olga set her sights on painting, already shining with talent. After choosing secondary art school, she attended the well-known National University of Arts in Ukraine and obtained a Master’s degree in 2008 at the École des Arts et des Lettres de Lorraine, in France. Olga was immediately welcomed into the French art world and has been building her career in France ever since.

Style

Olga Novokhatska’s work is driven by two main themes: the liveliness of nature and the particular atmosphere of the human figure, which she brings out through a highly textured work on her canvases. She repeatedly and progressively applies layers of oil paint, sometimes with a spatula, in order to create this recognisable relief effect. This texture brings a lively and energetic dimension to her works, where everything is movement. We can guess the laughter of the characters, the noise of the waves on the shore, we feel the power and the brightness of life that reveals itself in his painting.

Exhibitions

Her work has been widely exhibited at international art fairs in the UK, Belgium, France, USA and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, in 2016, she was one of 15 female artists selected for the exhibition “The Role of Women in Sustainable Development” at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
